LDS.net’s Mormon Minute recaps LDS news that happened during the week in the Mormon world. This week, we talk about: the Church’s new Family Discovery Center, a special family history gift for the British Prime Minister, and Mormon Channel’s new “Happy Families” series.

0:10 – Temple Square Family Discovery Center

The Church’s new family discovery center is now open at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City. The center gives visitors the opportunity to learn about their ancestors in an hour to using iPads and touch screens for an interactive experience. The tour is free, but reservations are encouraged.

“We went to the drawing board and tried to create a discovery type experience for youth and for the entire family so that everyone would feel welcome and everyone could come and experience their family history.”

0:40 – Family History Gift for British Prime Minister

Representatives of the Church presented the British Prime Minister with six generations of family history work during a recent meeting at the House of Parliament. The special gift included detailed historical backgrounds on ancestors, including those who served in World War One. This isn’t the first time the Church has gifted family history work to political leaders as president Barack Obama, and multiple prime ministers have also received this priceless gift.

1:04 – Happy Families Mormon Channel Series

And the Mormon Channel has a new series out about families and how they stay unified and happy. This week’s episode showed a family that loves spending time together cooking in the kitchen. This is the second video in the happy families series.

When I’m in the kitchen with my mom and family, it is just like the happiest I think that we are.
