776

The Mormon Minute recaps news that’s happening in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This week, we cover: new missionary and temple tools announced at the RootsTech conference, Church growth in Africa, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s virtual performance of Handel’s Messiah.

0:05 – Work of Salvation Tools

During the RootsTech conference in Salt Lake City, Elder Allan F. Packer and Brent H. Nielson of the Seventy presented several new tools that will help members in their missionary, temple work and family history efforts. One new feature includes the option to print ordinance cards for deceased family members from their home using familysearch.org.

0:26 – Church Growth in Africa

In 2014, over 36,000 people joined the Church in Southeast and West Africa. With this growth, has come the groundbreaking of the first temple in Central Africa. Elder Neil L. Andersen presided over the ceremony for the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple, which was announced back in 2011 during October’s general conference. It is the fourth temple the Church has built in Africa.

0:52 – Virtual Mormon Tabernacle Choir Sing-Along

And the Mormon Tabernacle choir wants you to sing with them in their virtual performance of the ‘Hallelujah Chorus.’ All you have to do is download the sheet music and watch the video that goes with your part, then record yourself singing along with the Mo-tab’s video and upload it to YouTube using the hashtag Hallelujah. Who knows, you just might see yourself in their video of this virtual performance sometime around Easter!
