President Thomas S. Monson was admitted to the hospital April 3rd and released Wednesday, April 5th. “He has received treatment and fluids and will hopefully be released soon,” said Eric Hawkins, a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, upon President Monson’s hospitalization.

President Monson, attended the morning and evening sessions of the April 2017 General Conference on Saturday and Sunday, but he remained at home for the afternoon sessions to “conserve his energy.”

A few weeks after general conference in April 2015, Hawkins said President Monson was “feeling the effects of old age.”

“He comes to the office every day, attends all First Presidency and committee meetings, leads the discussion and makes decisions,” Hawkins said then. “The workload of the First Presidency is up to date. President Monson has always been private about his health, but appreciates the prayers and sustaining support of church members, as do all of the First Presidency and the Twelve.”

Seven months later, in December 2015, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf said President Monson wasn’t walking as briskly as he once did and that his short-term memory “is not what it once was” and the long work days are becoming tougher.

President Monson spoke on Saturday in the general priesthood session. He urged priesthood holders to develop charity.

In the hospital, President Monson received fluids, but other details of his care have not been released. A rumor was circulating that he had died, but it was refuted by the Church.
