The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will start their new 2015 lecture series next week, which will focus on the theme “Pioneers in Every Land.”
The Church has proven that it is no longer an organization made up mostly of U.S. members. With more than 15 million members all around the world, the Church has spread from Tahiti to Taiwan. Latter-day Saint women and men are working on sharing the Gospel in every country. The lecture series features these individuals’ life stories and the challenges they have been through, providing those in attendance with an inspirational story of faith.
The first lecture of this series will be given by Elder James J. Hamula of the First Quorum of the Seventy. His presentation is titled “‘To Every Nation, Kindred, Tongue, and People’: Pioneers in Every Land.” The lecture will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 7:00 PM in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. This event is free and open to the public.
Hamula has recently served as President of the Pacific Area in Auckland, New Zealand. LDS.org quotes Hamula saying, “After serving among the people of the Pacific Islands, I learned that there is no place in this world that is beyond the redeeming interest, love and grace of Jesus Christ.” Hamula is currently working as an Assistant Executive Director of the Church History Department.
