Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated Mexico’s 13th temple this past weekend.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, presided at the dedication, and was accompanied by Elder Dallin H. Oaks, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Latter-day Saints that live in the temple’s district say they are excited to live so close to such a sacred place. Inez Guzman, a member who attended the dedicatory services on Sunday, December 13, 2015, told Deseret News

To have a temple this close changes the lives of so many. Few words can describe how we are feeling.

On December 12, Latter-day Saint youth in the Tijuana area participated in a cultural event, full of singing and dancing, to celebrate the completion of the temple. Uchtdorf addressed the youth gathered for the celebration and told them of their bright futures.

You are a generation with a wonderful future,” Uchtdorf stated. “You look so beautiful. You’re so smart. And you have a wonderful heart, so use those wonderful talents God has given you and combine them with the gospel of Jesus Christ and you will have a wonderful future.”

The Tijuana Mexico Temple will serve 45,000 Latter-day Saints.
