Larry Richman, of LDS Media Talk, just released his newest book, 101 Ways to Hasten the Work OnlineGeneral Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have recently been strongly encouraging Church members to share the gospel through the use of technology and social media. With many different social platforms, Richman’s book informs readers about the importance of sharing the gospel online as it guides them through the different ways of doing so.

During an Education Week address at Brigham Young University in August, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said:

What has been accomplished thus far in this dispensation communicating gospel messages through social media channels is a good beginning—but only a small trickle.  I now extend to you the invitation to help transform the trickle into a flood.

Since Elder Bednar’s address, the Church updated Handbook 2 to teach members to look at blogs and social platforms and to use them as useful tools in sending their messages of peace, joy and faith in Christ to the world. The handbook specifically states that “members are encouraged to use the Internet to flood the earth with testimonies of the Savior and His restored gospel.”

In his book, Richman attempts to help his readers learn how to follow this counsel. Some suggestions he gives to hasten the work online include:

  • Share gospel pictures and your comments about them
  • Refer friends to Mormon.org
  • Set up your own Mormon.org profile and share the link
  • Share an infographic about the Church
  • Share your testimony of Jesus Christ this Christmas
  • Post mission and wedding photos on photo sharing
    sites

The book was published on September 6, 2014, and is available for purchase on Amazon.com or at Deseret Book.
