  1. There is so much good information. Often the best place to source the information is straight from a business owner. This quote is from honeytraveler.com. You will find some amazing and insightful information. Scott says: January 4th, 2013 "I am assuming that the honey you purchased has crystallized and you would like to soften it up to eat. Gently heating it up in very warm water (hot to the touch, not burning – 110 degrees F.) in a loosely sealed jar will prevent a lot of the volatile components of the honey from evaporating. If you don’t actually heat the honey over 95 degrees F., then the enzymes should not be harmed. Even a little higher temp for a short period would be ok, but should be avoided. The interesting thing is that you won’t have to actually heat the honey every time you use it—assuming you eat it within a few days. When you heat the honey, you are not melting it. It will not harden up again when it cools. You are actually decrystalling the honey, not melting it. It will take some time to actually recrystallize, sometimes quite a while. Stored at around 70 degrees F. will keep it liquid longest. Nevertheless, if you had a large amount of honey, then you might want to separate out a smaller amount just to make handling easier. I have so many honeys I eat them very slowly, so I store my rarer honeys in the freezer to keep the longest and then take out what I want to use. The everyday honeys sit on the counter for quick access! "
  2. [The gospel] embraces all morality, all virtue, all light, all intelligence, all greatness, and all goodness. It introduces a system of laws and ordinances (DBY, 3). -Brigham Young If there were a law, that was obeyed, say we call it the law of kindness, such as Jesus taught, for us to be kind to one another, and an atheist is kind, it could be said that a blessing will be bestowed upon him, regardless of his rejection of the Lord. The actual blessing is the direct result of the action of the atheist; he did good and net a blessing. May I interrupt myself? OK...I have done good and have received good, and I have done good and received a lot of horrible things; and this not because of my own doing but the unkindness and unrighteousness of another. I am in the pond and I get the ripples. I am in the ocean and I get the tsunami. Oh, well, its horrible, but its true that good things happen to bad (unrighteous) people and bad things (nasty occurrences) happen to good people. None of us is completely good so please, just humor me on that one.... An atheist stands in need of the Lord, and it is up to the Lord how he visits that son or daughter. To say that everything is because of our own actions or decisions or an act of nature is true....and to add a thought...one other thing...or two...God can intervene regardless of the person's actions, or decision or an event of nature. He will use nature, He will use your help or mine, or whatever instrument He chooses, and it can and often does happen. Why? That's HIS business, and sometimes it is initiated by his own WILL and other times it is initiated by the plea of a concerned parent, friend, bishop, etc. Those prayers of faith will be set before the Lord and He can and does in fact, intervene. There will, somewhere in that equation, be a system of laws and ordinances that have been obeyed by someone who is in some way involved in reaching into the life of the atheist, and then the atheist receives divine intervention or due to an act not of his doing (as per this aspect of my explanation), has some "good" thing happen to him, in spite of his complete and often open rejection of Jesus Christ. Remember...Alma, the Younger? Did he receive an intervention because HE obeyed, "acted" righteously, "decided" righteously, or by "an act of nature"? I would have to say no. God moves nature; He is well above any natural movement, for He intervened. It was Alma the Elder whose faith moved the mountain because so powerful it was that God Himself sent an angel.... This is why, I believe in prayer over myself, my loved ones, over those who have despitefully used or hurt me, etc. and it can genuinely change the future, if not theirs, definitely mine. We are told to pray in faith. This is a direct command. To not pray is to be deceived by Satan. We can pray for atheists, and we can also learn much from them, for they are using at least one gift from God and that is that they do want to act of their own accord and usually accept the consequences. Should there come a day of intervention of some kind, it will be because someone has obeyed a principal or ordinance somehow and God has moved upon the situation and He most often is far more generous in His gifts than any offering or faith we have to add.
  3. The very fact that we have been taught... "all truth shall be....circumscribed in one" tells us that there is truth all about us, not just in the gospel of Mormon religion. That's okay, we are all brothers and sisters and our Father in Heaven not only sends revelations to us, but to others, in the form of thoughts and inspirations, etc. Here is a great talk with all you need to know about the question posed in this forum, and it is found in the Teachings of the Prophets, Brigham Young, 1977 Its quite direct: “Mormonism,” so-called, embraces every principle pertaining to life and salvation, for time and eternity. No matter who has it. If the infidel has got truth it belongs to “Mormonism.” The truth and sound doctrine possessed by the sectarian world, and they have a great deal, all belong to this Church. As for their morality, many of them are, morally, just as good as we are. All that is good, lovely, and praiseworthy belongs to this Church and Kingdom. “Mormonism” includes all truth. There is no truth but what belongs to the Gospel. It is life, eternal life; it is bliss; it is the fulness of all things in the gods and in the eternities of the gods (DBY, 3). In a word, if “Mormonism” is not my life, I do not know that I have any. I do not understand anything else, for it embraces everything that comes within the range of the understanding of man. If it does not circumscribe every thing that is in heaven and on earth, it is not what it purports to be (DBY, 2). I want to say to my friends that we believe in all good. If you can find a truth in heaven, earth or hell, it belongs to our doctrine. We believe it; it is ours; we claim it (DBY, 2). [The gospel] embraces all morality, all virtue, all light, all intelligence, all greatness, and all goodness. It introduces a system of laws and ordinances (DBY, 3). Such a plan incorporates every system of true doctrine on the earth, whether it be ecclesiastical, moral, philosophical, or civil; it incorporates all good laws that have been made from the days of Adam until now; it swallows up the laws of nations, for it exceeds them all in knowledge and purity, it circumscribes the doctrines of the day, and takes from the right and the left, and brings all truth together in one system, and leaves the chaff to be scattered hither and thither (DBY, 3–4). It is our duty and calling, as ministers of the same salvation and Gospel, to gather every item of truth and reject every error. Whether a truth be found with professed infidels, or with the Universalists, or the Church of Rome, or the Methodists, the Church of England, the Presbyterians, the Baptists, the Quakers, the Shakers, or any other of the various and numerous different sects and parties, all of whom have more or less truth, it is the business of the Elders of this Church (Jesus, their Elder Brother, being at their head) to gather up all the truths in the world pertaining to life and salvation, to the Gospel we preach, … to the sciences, and to philosophy, wherever it may be found in every nation, kindred, tongue, and people and bring it to Zion (DBY, 248)." End quote. .....It is our duty....our calling....he tells us. it is sobering; not to be taken lightly. I'm always personally saddened, sometimes disgusted when I read other forums, riddled and cankered with swears and offensive speech...and far too lighthearted in a non respectful way. I'm so happy to find a forum that is more true to the nature of the gift of being a member of the Lord's church and to have the gospel so generously given to us.
  4. I would probably favor allowing the Lord to speak to his Prophets to provide any revisions to the revelation on the Word of Wisdom. Certainly, it is possible that the Spirit may teach some, for reasons we don't all need to know, wisdom surrounding "change" but it is, in my opinion, a rather private affair, should that be the case. That being said, the caution might be that we should not be tinkering with changing any current revelation from the prophets just because we think we have insight or wisdom, unless we are sure in our own hearts the truth of the matter. I believe that it would be best to keep that to ourselves for it is not a subject, as far as I understand, to be shared, lest perhaps we be tampering with the idea of changing the Lord's word. Such an action would be in violation of the way God sends revelation meant for the entire body of the church through the mantle; his prophet. I would, myself, call into question my own apparent revelation, if it were different than what was given through the prophet. I would find myself of need to be very humble, to be so sure, that the Spirit, and not some counterfeit, has touched me. I realize, sadly, that many people are becoming gluten intolerant and therefore, must wonder what's up with wheat being for man, as per the revelation. They can't ingest it and then expect to feel well or healthy, and are in need of personally changing how they handle this knowledge. In that, I have mentioned earlier that the Spirit must be the guide in all things, and I have not the right to say anything about someone's private concerns or treatment of the Word of Wisdom unless they personally invite me into their business.
