  1. Thank you for this notes on the chapters. I felt very confused when reading that Abraham let his wife marry Faraoh to protect himself, and when I read about Lot and his daughters. I even tried to consider the fact that maybe incest was not thought of as sin at the time and in that culture, but I'm relieved that wasn't the case.
  2. Hi! I need help! I need to contact someone from a ward in England. How do I do that? I have tried the Meeting House locator and Google but what I need is not the adress but to contact the bishop or the Relief Society president. Is there any way I can do that? Thanks!
  3. LDS celebrate Advent in Sweden...it's a national tradition. :)
  4. The Argentinian government is not on good terms with the new Pope, so no need to worry about the Falkland Islands.... And I wouldn't say that Cardinal Begoglio is progressivist. The fact that one comes from South America doesn't authomatically make you a progressist.... And I don't think that the election of an Argentinian pope will make proselytism harder for our missionaries either...otherwise they would't have organized new missions in the country, and they wouldn't have built a second temple... I only hope this man "remains" a good person for the rest of his days.
  5. I agree with this post, and with the OP. Modesty is a commandment and we have to obey. We should not even need an explanation for why we need to cover our bodies. The Lord has set His standard and He knows best.
  6. I have a recipe from a Weightwatchers cookbook that even my hubby (who's as far a non-veggie as it can go) loves. Here it is: Roasted Vegetables Wash and cut in thin slices 1 squash or zuchinni), 1 aubergine, 2 tomatoes, 1 red pepper and 1 yellow pepper, 1 red onion. Place them in a pan wrapped in aluminium paper. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey, 2 spoons of vinager/balsam and 2 spoons of olive oil. Pour over the vegetables and bake in the oven in maximun temperature for 15-20 minutes. Serve with fresh basil leaves. It's really good! That's all!
  7. I'm also on the "eat less and move more" diet and have lost 6 kilos since July. From what I have read, I need to change my lifestyle and my eating habits in order to maintain my weight. That's the challenge!
  8. But what about if you care about them, but after some time you realize that they don't care about you? What do you do then? It really hurts!
  9. What makes a good friend, in your opinion and experience? Is there any way we can become "better" friends, or we either are good friends or not from the beginning? How have you coped with the disappointment when your friends have let you down? :)
  10. Hi! I have suffered from depression and at some point thought that I could also be suffering from NPD. But I guess I was wrong, because the first sign of narcissism is that you cannot see it yourself? Should I open a new thread for this?

  12. I found this thread because I was asked to write a composition about Death Penalty at school. And I only want to say that I am LDS and I am AGAINST Death Penalty. I know that the shedding of innocent blood is one of the unforgivable sins, but I don't believe that ordinary men should have the power to decide over someone else's life without the guide (explicit commandment) of God. I also believe that, since it's always best to repent from our sins as soon as possible and while on this earthly life, criminals should be kept alive to give them the chance to repent and save their souls to the extent possible. They should be kept in prison, of course, but alive. And yes, they cannot make restitution for the lives they've taken, but they can admit their sins, ask for forgiveness and abandon their sins. If we followed the logic of restitution ONLY, then most of us would be in trouble. There are many other sins we cannot make restitution for and that doesn't mean we should pay for them with our blood. I was surprised to find so much disagreement on the subject, and I guess that as members of the church we are free to choose sides as we are left free to choose our political affiliations. I am against. I leave it to God to jugde. However, this is MY opinion. I do not expect anyone else to adhere to it nor find its faults. I just wanted to make my stand clear. There are not direct proclamations issued by the Church. I will follow the prophet if the situation changes.
  13. Hi!!! I have been part of LDS.NET for a while and I introduced myself long ago. However, I'm not as active in the forums as many of you. I enjoy reading your posts and participate whenever I feel I can contribute, and there is not much I know. Well, I'm writing here because I need help. I am "attending" an online English course and as part of the homework, I need to find native speakers of the language and talk with them via Skype, and record the conversations to show my tutor. Now that´s my problem because wherever I go to find native speakers (there are many laguage exchange sites), I find that nobody wants to talk with me when I mention that I am married and do not intend to enter an online relationship other than friendship. So Im getting behind in the course. I would really appreciate if someone could give a few minutes of their time to talk with me about the topics of 6 units (the first one is monarchy). I will also appreciate if someone can give me ideas of where to find people who can do it. Thanks a lot in advance! Argentina84
