The Church Launches “Revelations in Context” Series

It's common knowledge to most members of the Church that Sunday School classes focus on a new section of the standardized works each year. This upcoming year of 2017 is, of course, no different. But there is something that has the potential to totally alter how we study 2017's curriculum: "Revelations in Context." 2017's Sunday School curriculum is centered on the Doctrine and Covenants, which contains a great wealth of interesting historical information as well as spiritual insight. In an effort to help members of the Church better understand the sacred revelations found in the D&C, they have developed a study tool called "Revelations in Context" that can be found on LDS.org. Revelations in Context is comprised of narratives written by the Church History department that explain the background to many different revelations. As its name suggests, it will give members the invaluable opportunity to read much of the Doctrine and Covenants in the context of its day. "Elder J. Cool idea.  But...we're doing D&C two years in a row?  Wait, we're doing BoM this year? Why did the teacher...??

Boy!  This is what happens when you get called as a ward missionary and get put in Gospel Essentials/Principles class.

The Revelations in Context series was begun during the last D&C year in 2013; and initially they were produced fast enough to keep up with the lesson manual.  About midway through the year things seemed to stall.  Glad to see they finally got around to finishing the series.
