Hey there, how many of you use the ignore button? I don't want to know WHO is on your list lol but know how many of you use it? For those who do not know, once you put someone on "ignore" you do not see any of their posts, even if they reply to you.

Yes, I use it for sure. Nothing wrong with it, we won't agree with everyone here and it beats arguing with people.

Yep, used it for years and years. Keeps the irritation and frustration levels down to nearly zero. Plus it also prevents me from posting: You really are some kind of special stupid now aren't you! Thus getting put into *Time Out* often. What I can't see, I can't respond to, I can't get upset - frustrated - face palm by.

Absolutely!  I don't think I would still be here without that ignore option.  Sometimes I put someone on for awhile and then take them off later---some end up going back on and some don't.  That makes it sound like I have a lot of people on ignore, but it's really never more than 2 or 3 at a time.

I figure in real life, we chose who we spend our free time with, why not have some control over that when we are here?

No one else replied right?

I tried to... don't know why my message didn't post...

Anyway, I'm on a lot of online religious forums (it's a passion/hobby/timewaster).  On every other forum I make ample use of "ignore" button to delete the trolls (like just last night there was someone literally telling me how Mormon women are sold into slavery).   I even make good use of the "ignore" function on other LDS boards.

The exception to this is Mormonhub: I can honestly say that I love this community and don't have a single person on my ignore list.  All in all my years posting WAY too often here, I can count the number of posts I've reported on one one hand and have lots of fingers left over.

I don't use it, because I need to believe that even if I disagree with someone 99% of the time, we can still be friendly over that 1% of stuff we have in common.  I don't believe there's anyone in the world we don't have SOMETHING in common with, and since we're all brothers and sisters, we should keep that lifeline.

The only thing that might make me put someone on ignore for a while would be if they were acting abusive toward me in a debate... but since the moderation on this forum is pretty good, that's generally not an issue here.

Where is the ignore button anyway?

Why do you want to ignore someone?  LOL.  Okay, seriously, look at the upper right hand part of the page where your name is.  There's an arrow to the right of your name.  Click on it and on that new menu that will appear you will see "ignored users".  You can use that to put someone on ignore, or take them off...you can also ignore their posts or messages or both.  Lots of options.

Thanks, LP.  But what is it supposed to do?  On other sites, when I "ignore" someone, I simply can't see their posts -- at all.  Is that how it works?

Right. You can't see their posts. Once blocked, there is an option so that you can see them individually if you wish. They can still quote you though.

Well, then, I guess it isn't working.  I can still see your posts after all. :P ;)

I haven't heard from MormonGator in quite some time.  Does he still post here?  I haven't seen a post recently. :P

It's okay @pam, I know you are still upset about being kicked out of the compound.

Reserve usage, for those whose posts are analogous to flipping the bird at me. Rarely needed, rarely used. When used, I figure it's better for both of us. ?
